Growing Operating Companies Ready for Change
The company has grown and expanded over the years, particularly within its cutting operating company (Affolter Pignons SA), which focuses on the production of high-end clock gears for some of the world’s biggest watchmakers.
Another area of growth has resulted from market expansion into the industrial machinery industry. Most medium-sized manufacturing companies typically focus on their core competency and their biggest clients. Affolter has seen great success by refusing to follow the norm. One of the firm’s operating companies specializes in the development of machines that are used internally for Affolter’s own clients; however, these machines are also sold to third-party customers. Affolter Electronique SA, established in 1991, is now called Affolter Technologies SA and builds CNC cutting machines.
To a certain extent, Affolter Group decided to create AF Management SA to coordinate its different operating companies focused on different market sectors. The company also was beginning to export and hire abroad in order to win more business in the Chinese market.
With name-brand clients and continued growth, Affolter Group was ready to takes its business system to the next level.
A scalable solution for a united and prosperous business
"With our old software, the management of our various sectors became very difficult,” said Nicolas Curty, member of the Affolter Group management team. “Now we enjoy managing finance, logistics, production, and human resources all within a single software solution: ProConcept ERP."
After the initial implementation period, ProConcept ERP has allowed Affolter Group to run its entire business from a single application. "The software has the breadth to cover the needs of our various operating companies, and provides a user-friendly interface that allows each person to adjust the system to support his or her daily work,” said Curty.
“We can build custom schedules, query data, and obtain reliable information that helps us make better decisions and develop our business strategy,” continued Curty. “We have so many features that we did not have before. And, to our delight, SolvAxis is a regional company like we are, once again emphasizing the competitiveness and expertise of our region.”
Curty added that the proximity of SolvAxis and its product support and consulting teams was not only a factor in its decision to purchase the system, but is also a source of ongoing appreciation. Responses have been speedy and efficient since collaboration began in 2006, and has helped the Affolter Group achieve an undeniable and fast return on investment.
