The company’s success story began when Urs Ingold opened a small business in Interlaken that, over a few decades, grew to become an innovative partner of the Swiss machine industry, as well as several other industry segments.
In 2008, his sons Michael and Robert Ingold joined the management team, long after the company had demonstrated competence to its vast network of customers and its suppliers. Already, Ingold AG Industriebedarf offered products to many well-known European and American manufacturers, including specialized chains for Rexnord, and disc springs for the German producer Schnorr.
"With our own engineering department and workshop, we can accept specific requests that are not possible with conventional, standard products, and this personalized service is increasingly appreciated," said Director Robert Ingold.
Certified Quality
According to Ingold, quality assurance is a top priority, as the company is focused on delivering custom products that are used in machines and devices requiring maximum reliability and safety. For this reason, the company has been structured in accordance with the EN / ISO 9001 quality management system processes since 1996. "With these processes in place, our team makes quality tangible to the customer every single day," said Ingold. "From our customer-focused engineering to proper installation and fast service, the customer receives not just a product, but the best overall solution for their individual business processes."
IT and ERP Systems: Factors for Success
When he founded the company, Urs Ingold realized early on that information technology was essential. Even in 1984, the company had set up its first centralized computer system and, just before the turn of the millennium, the IT infrastructure was completely renewed. "In subsequent years, the development of information technology has accelerated considerably and, at the same time, its importance has increased dramatically," recalled Ingold. For these reasons, he and his brother renewed all the hardware in 2011—the year of the company’s 40th anniversary. The following year, it was time to focus on the software. "For us, as a commercial enterprise, the ERP system is absolutely central," said Ingold, "and our former ERP system had not changed for years."
ERP and the Support of Equals
After a long evaluation process, Ingold AG Industriebedarf chose ProConcept ERP from ProConcept. "All of our required functions were there—and then some,” said Ingold. “ProConcept ERP delivered excellent value for the money, and they are a Swiss partner with whom we can communicate as equals.”
The implementation was carried out in phases throughout 2012: the logistics Module was initially installed, followed by finance and HR modules. Other parts of the system concerning manufacturing, CRM, and quality assurance were added before the end of the year.
